Divorce coaching in Ontario
A divorce coach helps you get organized, steady and prepared — so the time you eventually spend with a lawyer is short, focused and far less expensive.
What a divorce coach does
A coach works with you on the practical and personal side of separation: getting your documents and numbers in order, thinking through what you actually want, preparing for hard conversations, and keeping a clear head while decisions are being made. Sessions are one-to-one, confidential, and focused on your next concrete step rather than on the law.
How coaching differs from a lawyer
A coach does not give legal advice, does not represent you, and cannot draft or file court documents. That is a lawyer's work. A coach helps you arrive at the lawyer's office already organized and clear about your priorities — which is usually where the real savings come from. Many people work with both.
Who coaching suits
- You are early in the process and unsure what to do first.
- You have a lawyer, but you are spending billable hours on things a coach can help you sort out.
- Conversations with your spouse keep escalating and you want to prepare before the next one.
- You need to make decisions about money, housing or parenting and want to think them through with someone neutral.
